If you thought that the Panama Papers scandal was going away any time soon, a Committee of Inquiry, formed by the Parliament of the European Union, has announced that it will be inviting Mossack Fonseca representatives (read that as MF partners, who are all lawyers), to testify about the information exposed by the release of the Papers, and how it affects the EU and its member states. Additionally, and more ominously, the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry will be asking members of the Government of Panama to attend.
There is no information available, to determine whether the Committee has the power to issue subpoenas, or otherwise, to compel MF lawyers, or Panamanian officials, to incriminate themselves, through sworn testimony, so the appearance of these potential witnesses may not occur, unless effective legal means is secured, to compel their appearance in Brussels, and give truthful testimony.
