This week, OFAC designated the government-controlled North Korean bank, Korea Daesong Bank.* The bank first appeared with a World-Check Profile** more than six years earlier, on 2 September, 2004. The linked entities in our profile included now-designated Korea Daesong General Trading Corporation, as well as a link to a bank in Austria reportedly controlled by Daesong Bank, and the profile included the locations of branches of the bank outside the DPRK, critical information not included in either the regulatory sanction or the associated press release***.
