The Vice Minister of Finance, Eyda Varela de Chinchilla, reiterated to the French president, Emmanuel Macron, the commitment of Panama in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The official spoke on the subject during a mission she did in Europe, last week.

On April 26, Varela de Chinchilla participated in the Ministerial Conference on the Financing of Terrorism 'No Money for Terror', held at the headquarters of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, in Paris, France.

There he held bilateral meetings and shared the progress made in the area of ​​prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism, in addition to the work that Panama is doing in terms of fiscal transparency and information exchange.

He also met in Spain with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, the Executive Service of the Commission for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Monetary Infractions of the General Secretariat of the Treasury and Financial Policies and the Bank of Spain.

The Panamanian delegation presented the actions that have been executed in the last three years in terms of supervision and regulation.

Last week, the National Assembly introduced in its first debate bill 591 that criminalizes tax fraud in Panama.
