WANTED SA has just learned this afternoon that the News reports from the Iran National News Agency IRNA claim that the Government of Iran "is taking legal measures and the issue has been raised in the Hague Tribunal" over the refusal of major European aviation fuel suppliers to refuel Iran Air flights en route to Tehran from Europe.
The court where this action is allegedly being brought has not been specified.
Can a nation sanctioned by the UN, US, EU, and several other countries obtain redress via the courts?
Not in this life time!
It is reported that most European jet fuel suppliers have ceased to supply Iranian aircraft, due to US pressure based in part upon the new sanctions. We shall be following up on this story as soon as new information becomes available.
Whether the Hague Tribunal has subject-matter jurisdiction to hear such a case is an interesting and important issue?
